Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Southern Cook County

High winds and hail could be on their way this afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southern Cook County. 

The warning was in effect beginning at 3:12 p.m and ends at 4 p.m. The storm could carry with it quarter size hail and winds up to 60 mph, NWS reports. Hail damage to vehicles and wind damage to roofs, siding and trees is possible. 

The storm is expected to hit Orland Park around 3:40 p.m. and travel east through Palos and into Chicago. With high winds it is recommended to take shelter on a lower level.
