Sheriff: More Than 600 Pills of Ecstasy Seized from Bellwood Man

Bellwood resident Brandon Floyd was caught with a variety of contraband, including more than 600 pills of ecstasy, during a March 16 police search of his home, according to a sheriff's report.

A $100,000 bond has been set for Bellwood resident Brandon Floyd after he was caught with, among other contraband, more than 600 pills of ecstasy, according to Cook County Sheriff Thomas Dart.

Floyd, 26, of the 1100 block of South 31st Avenue in Bellwood was charged with:

  • Possession of 600 to 1,500 ecstasy pills.
  • Possession of  30 to 500 grams of marijuana.
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • Possession of a firearm without a valid firearms owner identification card.
  • Possession of ammunition without a valid firearms owner identification card.

According to a press release from the Cook County Sheriff's Office, their police gang unit began investigating Floyd after receiving a tip that he has been selling drugs our of his house. Police said they gathered enough information based on surveillance and undercover to obtain a search warrant.

Sheriff’s Police officers along with officers from Bellwood, Calumet City and Chicago Heights Police Departments, searched Floyd’s residence on March 16th, according to the press release.

Police said they estimate the value of the ecstasy pills alone to be $12,000.
