Shop Vac Thief Strikes Vacuum Machine

Cops think a man vacuumed nearly $300 in coins from a Chicago Heights gas station vacuum machine.

Someone pried open the change compartment of a gas station air vac machine and stole over $267 in coins, according to reports.

Police say the culprit struck a BP gas station vacuum machine sometime between Nov. 14 and Dec. 6, when a service person noticed the damaged during a collection run. Cops think the thief was able to quickly retrieve the coins from the machine by sucking them out with a shop vac, according to reports.

In total, $267.75 in coins were stolen. The machine is owned by United ATM & Credit Card out of Glenview, IL.
