Thief Swipes $7,000 in Jewelry from Vehicle

Police saw no signs of forced entry upon checking the vehicle.

A Chicago Heights resident learned a tough lesson about leaving valuables in the car on Dec. 20.

The 45-year-old woman told police her car was parked in an alley behind her Thorn Street home when, sometime between 7 p.m. and 9:20 p.m., someone entered the vehicle and took several items.

Just about everything that sparkled disappeared, according to the report. Among the things taken was a make-up bag, which contained three diamond rings, a gold wedding band, a white gold cross pendant with diamonds and a necklace with a gold bunny charm, according to the report. There were several other pieces of jewelry stolen as well.

The jewelry has a total value of about $7,000, according to the report. Police saw no signs of forced entry on the vehicle.
