Tires Slashed on Four Vehicles: Police Blotter

Assault

A 32-year-old Lynwood man told police he was in his car in the 200 block of East 14th Street when a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt opened his driver side door. The stranger wanted to fight him and was joined by several other men, who gathered around the victim's car, according to the report. The victim drove off, possibly hitting some of the other men with his car. The victim returned to the scene to talk to police and pointed out a man walking out of a store as the attacker. Willard S. Elam, 18, of the 630 block of South Sunflower in Matteson, was arrested and charged with assault.

SUNDAY, DEC. 2

Cut Tires on Four Cars

A 33-year-old Chicago Heights man told police an unknown person used an unknown object to cut all of the tires on both of his cars sometime between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. The slashing occurred in front of the man's 26th Street home, according to the report.

In a seperate incident on the same night, three more Chicago Heights residents told police someone punctured the tires on each of their vehicles sometime between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Two of the vehicles were parked in a driveway on West 15th Place, while the third was parked on Wilson Street, just south of the driveway. 

Drug Possession

Crawford Harris-Smith, 44, of the 1900 block of Cambridge, was arrested and charged with pedestrian under the influence of alcohol after police saw him carrying an open container of malt liquor in the 100 block of West 16th Place, according to the report. When police patted Harris-Smith down, they felt a small baggie. Harris-Smith pulled from his pocket a small clear Ziploc baggie containing a substance that later tested positive for cannabis, according to the report. He was also charged with possession of cannabis on a misdemeanor complaint and improper walking on the roadway, police said.

Battle with Boyfriend

A 30-year-old Chicago Heights woman told police she was in an argument with her boyfriend at their home when he struck her in the face and body with a closed fist. After the attack, the woman ran into a bedroom and locked herself inside. The boyfriend then left. Police saw bleeding on the woman's lower lip, but she refused medical attention, according to the report.
