Two Car Burglaries in One Day for Olympia Fields

Is your car safe in your driveway? Thieves pluck items from the center consoles of two cars.

Items left in your car make you an easy target, and Olympia Fields police saw proof of that last Saturday.

Less than one week after police detective Mark Akiyama , two vehicles in Olympia Fields were burglarized.

On Aug. 13, an Olympia Fields man told police he went inside his home for a couple of minutes and came back to his vehicle to find his cell phone, worth about $300, missing from his center console.

The man said he noticed other items in his vehicle had been scattered around the console, but nothing else was missing.

On the same night, police were called about another burglary.

An Olympia Fields woman told police it appeared someone went inside her unlocked car, which was parked in her driveway, and took about $20 worth of loose change from her center console.

The woman said she had saw two vehicles in the area around 11 p.m. on Aug. 12, about 12 hours before she noticed the missing change.
