Ultra Foods Employee Beats Woman with Scanner, Police Say

An Ultra Foods employee must go to court after being accused of smacking a female co-worker in the face with a handheld price scanner, police said.

Brittni C. Fitzgerald, 21, of the 6500 block of Blue Sky Lane in Matteson, began yelling at a cashier at the Ultra Food while both were inside the store on Sept. 22, according to police.

Fitzgerald then struck the other woman across the face with a store scanner, causing her face to swell, police said.

When police were called to the store, 571 W. 14th St., the victim and a store manager told police Fitzgerald was responsible for the injuries, according to the report. The cashier declined medical treatment, police said.

Fitzgerald is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 28, 9 a.m., in Room 205 of the Markham Courthouse.
