FRIDAY, JUNE 7

DUI After A 'Few Drinks'


Lamar Johnson, 58, of the 1100 block of Center Court, Homewood, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a report. Johnson was pulled over for speeding at about 12:35 a.m. near the intersection of 14th Street and D'Amico Drive. Police said the driver had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Johnson told police he "had a few drinks" that night.

Police asked Johnson to perform field sobriety tests, after which he was arrested, according to the report. While in custody, he submitted to a breath test which showed a result of 0.134.

Johnson is due on July 2 in Markham court.

THURSDAY, JUNE 6

DUI For Chicago Heights Driver


Jose Eliseo Flores, 24, of the first block of East 13th Street, Chicago Heights, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, improper lane use, failing to signal and failing to wear a seat belt, according to a report. Police stopped Flores at about 1:11 a.m. near the intersection of 16th Street and Chicago Road after spotting his car cross the road lines without signaling. While speaking with the driver, police noticed that he had bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol.

Flores performed field sobriety test and, after being arrested, took a breath test, according to the report. The result was 0.197.

He is due on July 29 in Markham court.

Upset Customer Takes It Out On A Coffee Maker


An agitated customer at a store in the 100 block of East 14th Street knocked over a coffee maker after being asked to leave, according to a report. The incident happened at about 2:27 p.m. A witness told police the man was causing a problem and knocked over the coffee pot only after he was repeatedly asked to exit the store. No arrest was reported.
