Video: Chicago Heights Tree Lighting Ceremony

Check out a video clip of the tree coming to life at City Hall.

With Santa Claus in attendance, Mayor David Gonzalez and the Chicago Heights City Council celebrated the lighting of the city's Christmas tree Monday.

The District 170 choir helped introduce the lighting its own rendition of the song "Hot Chocolate," originally from the movie Polar Express. Afterwards, Gonzalez allowed some of the kids to help light the tree.

After the tree lighting Chief of Staff Lisa Aprati invited the crowd in for hot chocolate and a chance to talk to Santa.

The tree, which the city received from the Doggett family, was replanted from last year. Gonzalez said he expects to reuse the tree through several more winters.
