Woman Sues Red Roof Inn Where Bail-Jumper Allegedly Raped Her

The woman is suing the Monee Red Roof Inn in connection with the sexual assault allegedly committed by a motel employee last year.

A woman allegedly raped by a Red Roof Inn worker who jumped bail and disappeared almost a year ago is suing the Monee motel.

The woman, identified only as "Jane Doe" in the lawsuit, was allegedly attacked by Red Roof Inn employee Dipeshkumar Shah in June.

Shah, 35,  hid in the woman's room while she was out, according to a criminal indictment, and when she returned to it he emerged to bite and strike her, and then rape her.

Shah, a Bridgeview resident, was charged with home invasion and criminal sexual assault. His bond was set at $500,000.

Shah posted 10 percent of it—$50,000—the day after he was jailed to secure his release.

Shah's arraignment was scheduled for 25 days after his arrest. He never showed up and has not been seen since.

His alleged victim filed her lawsuit against the motel this week in Will County court.
