Chicago Heights Receives Planning Award

The Heights was recently honored at DePaul University for its Active Transportation Plan.

Chicago Heights was honored with an Implementation Award in the beginning of the month by the Illinois chapter of the American Planning Association for its Active Transportation plan.

Since 2011, the Heights' Active Transportation Plan's mission has been to help make improvements to the physical infrastructure and policies and programs that make it safer and more convenient for people to walk, bike and use transit in Chicago Heights.

“A lot of brainstorming and hard work went into coming up with the plan that would provide residents with more options to stay active and healthy,” Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez said. “We’re happy to accept this award on behalf of the hard working people trying to enrich the lives of Chicago Heights residents.”
