Chicago Heights Strikes Water Deal With Glenwood

The decision will help offset some of Hammond's high water rates.

The Chicago Heights City Council approved a 20-year water contract with the Village of Glenwood during their Sept. 16 meeting. The city will now provide water from Hammond to Glenwood at a rate of $3.30 per 1,000 gallons.

The decision comes at the heels of a previous 30-year contract with Glenwood.

“We’ve had good communication with Glenwood, reaching a new agreement that both sides are satisfied with,” Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez said.
