Crumbling storm sewers and catch basins throughout Chicago Heights will soon be targeted for repair.
On Aug. 19, the city council voted to go to bid for the infrastructure repair work. According to the city, over 29 different sewer and basin locations are in need of fixing-up.
Catch basins are designed to drain water from paved streets during times of heavy rainfall and elevated groundwater levels.
“I’m glad we’ve got experts who can help us identify issues in our streets and sewers before it’s too late,” Mayor David Gonzalez said during the meeting.
