Crews Raze Old 'Tropicana' Banquet Hall

The abandoned facility is the last of three major demolitions this summer.

Demolition work has started on the old Tropicana Banquet Hall building, 620 South Halsted Street.

The 80,000 square foot building is the last of three that will be demolished this summer, as decided by the City of Chicago Heights last April. All three demolition projects are funded by a $300,000 Cook County grant.

The two buildings demolished earlier this summer were the former Klawinski building, 601 Halsted, and a fire-damaged factory at 1650 Union Street.
