Five Chicago Heights Police Promoted in City Hall Ceremony
The men acknowledged several family members and friends that showed up to support them.
A few Chicago Heights policemen enjoyed the company of their family friends as they received new titles Friday in a special ceremony at .
Five promotions were approved by the Chicago Heights Fire and Police Board.
Three sergeants became lieutenants:

- Ronald Simonetti
Two officers became sergeants:
- Timothy Agee
- Joseph Bruni
Mayor David Gonzalez congratulated the group and pointed out the importance of determination over all else.

"They are getting promoted, not because of the time they've been on the job . . . It's about their dedication, their commitment to the job," Gonzalez said. "It's nothing that's being given to them, it's something they've earned."
Police Chief Michael Camilli, who recommended the promotions, gave the new sergeants and lieutenents their stars, while Gonzalez made a mention of the policemen's families.
"Being police officers, they spend a lot of time away from their family birthdays, and some Christmases," Gonzalez said. "I have to congratulate their families for being strong, being supportive of these officers."
All five of the promotees start their new roles Sept. 1.
