With a referendum going on the ballot that will ask residents to pay a in the interest of a new athletic facility, many eyes will be on the Olympia Fields Park District.

We have posted the agenda for tonight's 7 p.m. Park District Board meeting and the public is invited to attend.

Last Call for Candidate Questions! (Mar. 16, 2011, 2:30 pm)

We still need more questions for the 2011 election candidates. I'm sure everyone has plenty of concerns about how the next regime will operate the city, schools and parks. This is your chance to find out what they can do for you!

We will be sending out questions to all the candidates in the Chicago Heights, Olympia Fields and South Chicago Heights elections, and we want to accurately represent the concerns of residents.

Prairie State Candidates to Speak at Forum (Mar. 15, 2011, 5:03 pm)

The League of Women Voters H-F Area and League of Women Voters Park Forest Area are sponsoring a Prairie State College District 515 Candidates Forum.

The forum is set up so that candidates can answer questions about the issues facing the Prairie State Board of Trustees, and is aimed at helping voters make an educated decision in the voting booth. All nine of the candidates are expected to be in attendance.

Early voting for Chicago Heights started today, and as the election draws nearer there's no time like the present to find out what the candidates will be doing to address the issues you are most concerned about.

Now is the time to send us your questions! We will be sending out questions to all the candidates in the Chicago Heights, Olympia Fields and South Chicago Heights elections, and we want to accurately represent the concerns of residents.

If you are interested in voting early, visit Chicago Heights City Hall between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday until March 31.

Alderman Candidates to Speak at Jones Center (Mar. 11, 2011, 3:30 pm)

It's no secret that former aldermen and Robert McCoy are looking to return to the Chicago Heights City Council, but it appears the two Intergrity Party candidates will also be speaking at the Saturday.

The purpose topic of the event, "How to get a job in a tough economy." The event is being sponsored by Sheena Patton of Organizing for America and will begin at 1 p.m. Guests are asked to bring a "resume, questions and court papers," according to the Integrity Party's Website.

Unity Party to Hold Fundraiser in Lansing (Mar. 10, 2011, 1:45 p.m.)

Mayoral candidate will be at a Unity Party fundraiser at the Serbian Social Center in Lansing from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Some notable names on the guest list include 40th District State Sen. Toi Hutchinson, former Chicago Heights Mayor and 80th District State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, and current Chicago Heights Mayor . Fifth Ward Ald. Lisa Aprati and Bloom Township Supervisor T.J. Somer will also be on hand.

Tickets to the shindig are $50 and and include appetizers, entertainment and an open bar, according to the Unity Party's Website.
