Heights Fall Festival of Sister Cities Begins Friday
The weekend-long event will kick off with carnival rides Friday evening.
This weekend the City of Chicago Heights will honor its four official sister cities in a major way.
The Fall Festival of Sister Cities will include live entertainment, carnival rides, a bean bag tournament, a classic car show, bingo and a beer tent, all taking place at one the of the most historically significant places in the Heights, .
The four official sister cities being celebrated at the event include:

- San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy
- Cedral, Mexico
- Wadowice, Poland
- Ghana, West Africa
Carmen Sendejas, who has helped organize the event, spoke at the Aug. 20 Chicago Heights City Council meeting, noting that the festival will include diverse music choices and appeal to a wide range of Heights residents.
This event is sponsored by the Chicago Heights Park District, Skyline Disposal, Aunt Martha's and Esmark.

The Fall Festival of Sister Cities begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, with five hours of carnival rides. The full slate of events begins Saturday at noon.
