Is Ald. Sandi Jackson Looking to Take Her Husband's Vacated Seat?
Conflicting media reports offer little confirmation as to whether the alderman will run for the 2nd District congressional seat, vacated by Jesse Jackson Jr. last month.
This week's news coverage of the 2nd District special election has produced conflicting stories about Ald. Sandi Jackson, wife of former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr.
Jackson will not be running to replace her husband and represent the 2nd District, the alderman's chief of staff, Keiana Barrett, told Sun-Times Media.
But Friends of Sandi Jackson told Fox Chicago Jackson will resign from her seat as Chicago's 7th Ward Alderman. DNAInfo's Mark Konkol takes the speculation a little further, reporting that Jackson told him, "Never say never."

If Jackson does add her name to the growing list of 2nd District candidates, she would be up against state senators Toi Hutchinson and Napoleon Harris, as well as former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson. One of the more controversial entries into the race was former U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds, who is a convicted sex offender.
