Jackson Votes Absentee, Plans No Election Party

Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. has no plans to celebrate on election night

While he has been absent from his congressional district for several months, U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has somehow found time to vote.

Jackson voted absentee and has no plans to hold an election-night event, political consultant Kevin Lampe told the Tribune. The congressman is seeking re-election despite a tumultuous year of federal investigations and time-spent at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.

Jackson has been on medical leave since June 10 and has mostly dodged the public eye all the way through October.

Jackson was seen sitting with former Congressman Patrick Kennedy in August and more recently was seen drinking at a bar in Washington D.C. before returning to the Clinic, according to the Tribune. It was reported in August that Jackson was diagnosed with bipolar depression and gastrointestinal issues.

Opponents Marcus Lewis and Brian Woodworth have called for Jackson to come out of hiding as the district has "no voice." Lewis has already cast his vote, displaying a photo of his marked ballot on his campaign Website.

Perhaps, in any event it's unlikely that JJJr will ever go back to work, then the 2nd District will be faced with an expensive Special Election. And Joe Berrios, Cook County Democratic Chairman will slate a slug Chicago Machine candidate. Good luck. Joe Lake, Chicago

We can hope this is true however the sheep in this district will still vote for him. I noticed he frond the strength to cast his absentee vote in the election even though he was unable to cast a single vote for his constituents since going into hiding, er, his illness. If he does get reelected and we wind up with a special election later, it will play into the hands of the county machine. As someone else said, anyone but him and that goes for most of the other machine incumbents.

What a joke of a politician. I think what he is doing is a crime and he should be removed from the ballot and his office.

we need a special prosecutor not a special election, does Berrios have any kids living in the district?
WA Mama November 01, 2012 at 03:24 PM
Arrogant SOB. I think if he is elected, then can't serve, that Quinn picks someone. There's no special election. But I will be putting my vote behind Mr. Lewis. A little loopy, but his heart is in the right place. More than I can say for J3 or Woodworth, who lives out of the district, an hour south, and has no clue what our issues are up here.

Thank you for your support and comment. I am positioned to be where all that despise the thought of the game being played to reelect JJJ then obviously he will not survive nor should he politically after his activities this year. Place your vote with me. We are not going to get another opportunity to grab back the PEOPLE'S SEAT from the corrupt machine then now. Tell all in the district, I am the way. put all your energy in me by voting for me. When in congress I will caucus with the democrats but I will be able to speak out on things they can't because YOU PUT ME HERE TO SERVE YOU. This should be. No brainer of a vote landslide for us! VOTE FOR MARCUS LEWIS FOR CONGRESS NOW! Go to : www.marcuslewisforcongress2012.org

My campaign is piercing through decades of no action for this district that have stunted the forward progress for the residents of the former district borders. Just look at the Villages of Harvey, Dixmoor, Phoenix, Robbins, Riverdale to name just a few. The Chicago Southeast-side is left abandon and left to fend for itself which is why I am running to bring this Jackson-style of governing to a screeching halt! So I know the newly added counties of Will & Kankakee will feel relief with Marcus Lewis at the helm not only will receive the Love, Care, Concern & Resources they are due but the entire district! I hope the residents and voters of the entire district will come to believe that the era of Jesse Jackson Jr. will come to an end on Nov. 6th, 2012 because they voted for Marcus Lewis in mass. I am here to help and will put all of my efforts with the backing of the U.S. Government behind rebuilding the areas hardest hit first because the need is so great. But every area will get the focused attention they deserve. So stand with me now 2nd District. We must roll up our sleeves and sit down together and get to work and put in action plans that you will see positive steps that we mean business on picking up ourselves and getting back our identity. We matter and I am going to show the state and country that the 2nd District is a player in the larger scheme of things positive.

This is why Peotone will never be built. Gary Airport has 2 flights a week and is locked up the rest of the time. Poor use of taxpayer funds. http://www.nbcchicago.com/investigations/unit-5-chicago-plan-truth-gary-chicago-airport-taxpayer-subsidy-175902941.html
