Jesse Jackson Jr. to Keep 2nd District Seat

Unofficial results show the 17-year congressman took the race by a wide margin, even without making an appearance in his district since June.

Jesse Jackson Jr. will remain the 2nd District congressman after defeating his opponents in the general election.

Jackson took more than 60 percent of the vote, with more than 60 percent of precincts reporting across Will, Cook, and Kankakee counties, as well as the City of Chicago, around 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Jackson's Republican opponent Brian Woodworth was frank when it came to discussing the congressman's absence from the campaign trail.

“I don’t really have anyone to concede to, do I?" Woodworth said. “From what I can find in my records, I’ve actually performed better than any Republican in the past against Jackson.“

Woodworth did take major leads in Will and Kankakee counties, leading Jackson by more than 10,000 votes in the latter before all precincts were reported.

“People in Kankakee and Will (counties) do not want Chicago politics down here," Woodworth said. "It’s something the Democrats need to keep in mind two years from now when there’s a governor race to run. Will and Kankakee don’t like being grouped in with Chicago politics.

Jackson's independent opponent Marcus Lewis was happy to have nabbed nearly 30,000 votes with more than 60 percent of precincts reporting.

“To get this far with next to no money is incredible," Lewis said. “Not to have it is the painful part."

Lewis had a sharper tongue when it came to Jackson and his supporters.

"The man is corrupt," Lewis said. "Anybody that voted for him is as corrupt because you do not care about your district. You only care about making sure the status quo remains in place. I did my part.”

Jackson took a medical leave of absence in June and has been absent from office ever since. It was announced that he had entered the Mayo clinic and was being treated for Bipolar II disorder in August. Jackson was released in September, but later returned to the clinic in October.

Jackson is currently the subject of two federal-level investigations, one of which is a criminal investigation into his campaign spending.

There is no timetable for the congressman's return to office.

That has not stopped the second district's voters in the past charlatans and buffoons were skillfully put together to appear normal by the Bloom GOP political powerhouse of the day who came out in force and took Dem ballots in the primary that overwhelmed the meager organization of the sitting congressman who was a real maverick who did not take orders and a tool of the Banksters who had yet been corp are people too but demanded the congressman who was also a publisher who told a lot of interesting stories on the role of AIPAC (American ISRAEL POLIT ACTION CMTE) and other Zionists interference in our government so it was obvious he had to go like 2 previous members of congress from Illinois a Dem and GOP Senator all 3 were unlike most of the potted plants in Congress the conspiracy was set in motion with a charlatan whose resume and education was as phony as JJJ a well spoken buffoon who was set up to fail and replaced by the current charlatan and buffoon it is part of the tradition of the DEMOPUB politics of Illinois consider this why does the state of Illinois invest it's revenue in Israel while the local banks who provide the loans and investments are unable to meet the need for infrastructure or development and add to the neglect of the entire state but especially the second district that has a AWOL MIA sick and unfit congressman his defenders Rush and Davis are happy on the situation they get the crumbs that would have been given to the 2nd district!

Right on Jeremy we need a rep who will vote for the Ryan austerity budget which means a cut in teachers, police, firefighters public works and any services that Seniors women and children receive in return the empty schools hospitals and store front churches can be turned into enterprise zones where BAIN investors can put razor wire enclosed factory's up to keep the millions of potential slaves out and turn the newly drawn and largely Ag 2nd district into a GENETIC ENGINEERED LAB for MONSANTO and the rest of the big AG CARGILL-ADM etc, it was a win-win situation when JJJ was the candidate of the heavy hitters, how many people remember when he and Sr rang the ceremonial bell on Wall street just before the crash in 08, who says there is no god! For the banksters and their big biz allies without him there would have been no redrawn 2nd district or airport where no one will come or be built.where the biggest experiments in Genetics and GE foods will take place in a good chunk of the breadbasket these are not random political or economic acts just like the so called controlled burns in the forest preserves where the heavy metals from the MILLS in So Chgo and Ind were DUMPED during WWII on farmland that after the creation of EPA by the NIXON administration were donated to the CCFPD who buried the slag heaps and turned them into woods.

What the 2nd dist needs is a qualified and distinguished rep like John McCain who dumped his wife as soon as he was sprung from the Hanoi Hilton in true GOP fashion like the former GOP spkr Newt who did it to his wife while she was on her death bed, McSLIME who would have had SARA PALIN a heart beat away from the NUKE codes, TParty favorite like Akin, Murdock and DEAD BEAT DAD Joe Walsh are the new models for government that the GOP CHRISTIAN CHARLATANS would have us select for our rep in the peoples house!
