The City of Chicago Heights recently celebrated the opening of a new community-built play place.
The playground, located at the northwest corner of East 13th Street and Wentworth Avenue, was a partnership between the City of Chicago Heights, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois, the Housing Authority of Cook County, KaBOOM! nonprofit, the Chicago Bulls and a whole bunch of volunteers. So many, in fact, that the majority of the entire park was constructed in only one day.
It even includes a basketball court.

“It’s so important that our kids stay active, healthy and safe,” Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez said. “This playground was a labor of love. It’s an example of what a community can do when minds come together and think about what’s important.”
