Marcus Lewis Gets Active on Patch: Names in the News

The Independent candidate for the Second District congressional election has turned the comment thread of an article into an impromptu Q&A session.

What started as an attempt to clarify comments about mental illness in political candidates has turned into an online meet and greet for congressional candidate Marcus Lewis.

Lewis, a longtime employee of the United States Postal Service, will appear on the November ballot as an independent candidate, and his frequent commenting on Patch articles ensures that a few more people will already be familiar with the name.

Some Patch users have criticized Lewis for focusing too much on the incumbent Jesse Jackson Jr.'s mental state, but Lewis says voters will need to factor Jackson's bipolar diagnosis into their decision at the polls.
