Mayor's Office Accepting Resumes for Ward One Alderman Seat

The mayor will announce the late Willie White's recommended replacement next month.

Anyone interested in becoming the new Ward One Alderman for Chicago Heights will need to update his or her resume.

At the Wednesday City Council meeting, Mayor David Gonzalez announced the process he will use for appointing a replacement for the , an appointment .

The mayor's office will accept resumes from potential candidates up through Jan. 31. The mayor will then choose from the applicants and announce a recommendation at a city council meeting in February. The council will then have 30 days to approve or reject Gonzalez's appointment, according to Chicago Heights Corporation Counsel T.J. Somer.

"You do have to have been a resident of Ward One at least one year prior to the date of the appointment," Somer cautioned.

Whoever the council approves will hold the alderman position until the next municipal election period in April of 2013.
