Park District Cuts Ribbon on East Golf Course Restaurant

Board President Joseph Stanfa invites Chicago Heights residents to the "only breakfast-serving restaurant east of Dixie Highway."

What once was old is new again, as a restaurant that closed it's doors more than a decade ago returns to Chicago Heights.

Up until a few weeks ago, the Pavilion's banquet room was used as rental space for parties and other private functions. Now it is back to what it was in the early '90s, a fully staffed restaurant, serving breakfast and lunch, according to Park District Supt. Frank Perez.

"There are not that many restaurants on this side of town, so we wanted to give it a try," Perez said. "We're trying to attract traffic from businesses and the golfers."

Perez said the restaurant has a staff of 10 employees, including waitresses, cooks and a busboy.

Ward Five Commissioner Jessica Garner said she is happy to have the restaurant in her ward.

"I've been a lifetime resident of Chicago Heights and I remember when it was restaurant before, and we used to eat here," Garner said. "I'm really excited because I think we're going to attract more people here for breakfast and lunch. Then they'll see how wonderful it is and maybe they'll inquire about golf or the other park district programs."

The menu at the includes burgers, pasta, strip steak, seafood and several other categories, as well as a list of the day's specials.

It is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.
