Prairie State Trustee Wendell Mosby Endorses Robin Kelly

Mosby explained his decision to endorse Kelly in an open letter.

Editor's Note: This letter was written before Sen. Toi Hutchinson dropped out of the election.

Being relatively new to the world of politics, this has been one of the most difficult decisions I have had to make thus far. For months, I have been taking copious notes and analyzing the race for the 2nd Congressional District. As a Trustee of Prairie State Community College District #515, I have had the honor to work with members of Congress as I have advocated for supporting community colleges. I take my responsibility as a guardian of the public trust very seriously and I owe a debt of gratitude to my supporters.

As a residents of the 2nd Congressional District, I hosted a debate at my alma mater Rich Central High School because I wanted the issues that I felt were important to residents of the Southland be heard and addressed. To endorse Robin Kelly over my State Senator was not an easy choice. Senator Toi Hutchinson is my Senator and I think she has done a fine job representing the 40th District. She supported the children of my summer camp as we promoted First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign. She is a great mother and someone whom I have enjoyed working with.

After working tirelessly on the reelection campaign for President Barack Obama, I believe he needs someone that does not have a questionable record as it relates to the agenda he presented to the America people during the State of Union. The President and House Democrats need the support of someone who does not have to spend time defending their record, but can stand united on day one to help move this country forward.

Now with the President's second term secured, Generation 44 is no more. However, this national network of young professional fundraisers has remained intact and will support Democratic candidates that share our values. Our inaugural launch begins with this race and I hope you will join me by supporting Robin Kelly for the United States House of Representatives.

-Wendell Mosby

Kelly's opponents are all so incompetent, underfunded, or both that no one seems to remember that when she was running the Illinois Treasurer's office (while Alexi G. campaigned) she allowed wildly improper investments of Chicago's Bright Start college savings plan, resulting in tens of millions in dollars of losses to familiies trying to save for college: http://www.cdobs.com/archive/featured/will-this-cover-up-sink-the-treasurer/

Just curious, does anyone know what percentage of the vote a candidate needs to get to win this special election for the 2nd district? Does it need to be the largest % of all the candidates on the ballot or over 50%?
Pam February 22, 2013 at 08:28 PM
Juvenal, does candidate CHARLES RAYBURN now have your vote? (more to come)

I must let the reading public know what transpired at the forum last night at St. John. A gentleman was troubled over an incident with his child. In his question he noted that he was having a problem etc. Anthony W. Williams offered to help him stating he didn't have to wait until being elected. No one else stood up to offer this man assistance until AFTER Anthony W. Williams, a true public servant, volunteered. Before casting your vote, please visit www.voteanthonywwilliams.com and compare the others to someone who does not remain silent on the issues, the candidate who will not be bought, the candidate who the majority of candidates said they would vote for if they themselves were not running, and the man who will bring the seat back to the people, Anthony W. Williams. brought pension tampering to light and 40k retirees got refunds, helped the late Rocky Clark keep insurance, Robbins library to stay open to the public, fought unfairness in jobs and contracts and against front companies. Will call for a moratorium on foreclosures and high energy costs, expungements for non violent felons and much more visit website and compare. This is who our votes should be cast for. A man who has been helping people in our district and people all over because he is a servant of the people. God bless you Mr. Anthony Williams. I hope all see your worth and the benefit of you in office. God bless

Surely the largest of all. Come out and help Anthony W. Williams.

Juvenal, I agree with you. People should revisit the link you posted and ask Ms.Kelly more about where 150 million college dollars went, I'm sure she will be very transparent in her explanation and more than happy to tell you that they recovered 77 million, Wow,Whoopie doo.
Mya February 24, 2013 at 02:36 PM
Wow, some interesting comments. Pam are you related to mr. rayburn? Your comments read exactly like his, EXACTLY. @Veronica, I was at that forum at St. John's too and was impressed with Anthony W. Williams. After the forum, after Williams said he would help Jesus Q. (I don't remember his last name, just that it started with a "Q") I saw several candidates rush over to him, NOW wanting to help him. Beale stated that wasn't a congressional issue, it was on the city level/CPS - doesn't he work for the city now? It was at that moment I know Beale was out for no one but himself. He has the ability to help that man now, but was unwilling to and really didn't want to even answer the question the man asked because he felt it was unrelated to the congressional office. Also, Veronica you forgot to mention that one of the questions to the candidates was "if you were not in the campaign, who on the panel would you vote for?", most of them said "Rev. Anthony Williams". I saw it posted somewhere else, I think it was his campaign manager called him the Candidates' Candidate. Of course Anthony Beale and the African man said they would only vote for themselves, how arrogant! The moderator had to come back and explain why he asked the question and that he wanted an answer OTHER THAN themself. I'm not a Beale basher (usually), but I was totally disenchanted with him that night, he arrived more than a half hour late and just came off as arrogant - not confident, arrogant.

BTW, thanks Veronica for the website, I wrote it down, but forgot the 2nd "W". As I stated, I was impressed with him that night and after reading through his website, I'm even more impressed. The only thing that bothers me is that he has run 7 times for this office already, under different parties! Why did he change parties? As he states, his body of work shows he's for the people, but I'm just wondering about that. I read that Kelly is not attending anymore forums because she is too busy. Too busy for the voters? Hmmm? Perhaps she's meeting with the voters on a different level. Guess I know who I'm voting for this Tuesday. Go A Dub!!

Yes Mya, a lot people overlook the 2nd W. I encourage all the voters to visit www.VoteAnthonyWWilliams.com and see Anthony W. Williams' work. If he is doing this as a regular citizen, how much more and how many more people could he help if he could pass legislation? All you pensioner and those receiving social security or whose parents & grandparents are receiving social security really need to vote for him, he's trying to protect your income, while others are turning their backs on us, ignoring the fact that the state tampered with pension checks as a litmus test to see if they could get away with it. They took deductions out of over 40,000 peoples pension checks and Anthony W. Williams stood up to the state and they were forced to give them ALL refunds.
LinaDina February 24, 2013 at 03:27 PM
Hi Mya thank you for the question about Anthony W. Williams. I'm a volunteer with his campaign. The following statement by his wife best explains why he ran so many times & under different parties. She's replying specifically to Charles Rayburn, who I guess was trying to slam Mr. Williams for running so many times. I agree with her, Rayburn saw the injustices & is NOW speaking on it, why didn't he jump in to serve the people before now? "Although Anthony W. Williams is a democrat, a progressive democrat if you will, he was not able to unseat the incumbent in his own party in any primary, so he ran against him under whatever party he could get on the ballot with so that he could serve the people. That is the difference between you and my husband, Anthony W. Williams; he works hard to serve the people when he knows there’s an injustice. The reason why so many people are running now is because they were afraid to run against Jackson and with him out of the way, they feel they have a chance. My husband was not afraid and was not going to let Jackson run unopposed. Anthony W. Williams wasn’t the only one to lose, we ALL lost, but at least he stood up to fight for OUR underserved district. I noticed you didn’t jump in until after Jackson left, even though you claim there to have been injustices for the last several years in this district. Anthony W. Williams has in the past and continues to advocate for the public at-large unlike other candidates in this race."

Perhaps it would be appropriate to mention that, Rev. Williams was the next candidate to speak after the discussion between the gentleman, and the Alderman. As I recall all of the candidates expressed regret and outrage over this unfortunate C.P.S. incident. Michael ... A Voter (who has voted) in the 2nd Congressional

This guy will now feel he is mighty and powerful because he "endorsed" a candidate we all knew would get in. Mosby is a snake, he plays the Race Card. He goes around making promises to females that he can get them hired with his clout at the college. Than goes around and knock up employees at the college. He is a Cheater, a Liar, and refuse to take up his responsibility. Goes around getting on all of these boards to make himself look good. He cares nothing about the taxpayers. Face up to your wreckless conduct and your responsibility.
