Read Congressman Jackson's Letter of Resignation

In the letter, Jackson says he will accept responsibility for his mistakes.

In a letter to House Speaker John Boehner, Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. has resigned from his seat of 17 years.

In the letter Jackson makes mention of the federal investigation into his campaign spending, and says he has made his share of mistakes. Jackson also touts his accomplishments as a congressman, namely bringing fresh water to Ford Heights and putting together a $400 million proposal for an airport in Peotone.

In J3's opening line he said his singular purpose was to "serve the constituents of the second district". Based on the past 6 months it appears j3 only served himself. He should have resigned prior to the election. Now he is going to cost the taxpayers additional time & $$$ in order to conduct a special election.

How about Jesse paying for the special election out of his campaign funds? We taxpayers are about tapped out!!!!! And, isn't it racist that the African Americans in the Democratic party are voicing concern about too many black candidates interested in running could split the vote and allow a white candidate to win????? Guess we have a double standard in Cook County................

The only thing that would make him even remotely close to being honorable is if he refunds the pay he stole from taxpayers the last 17 years. Check out his voting record and bill sponsors. What a stiff.
