Prairie State College Speech Team Wins Several Awards at Moraine Valley Tournament
The Prairie State College (PSC) speech team received fifth place of 15 teams and brought home several individual awards from an Oct. 13 tournament hosted by Moraine Valley Community College.
The Prairie State College (PSC) speech team received fifth place of 15 teams and brought home several individual awards from an Oct. 13 tournament hosted by Moraine Valley Community College.
Nick Williams of Homewood received second place for program oral interpretation and second place for speech to entertain. Sarah Hill of Harvey received third place for speech to entertain, and Elizabeth Rossi of Crete received sixth place for informative speaking. Matt Jiles of Flossmoor received fifth place for impromptu speaking, and Marilyn Foster of Olympia Fields received sixth place for persuasive speaking. Also competing were Dejoie Simmons of Country Club Hills, Jon Veal of Homewood, Kimberly Fox of Matteson, and Jasmine Ross of Richton Park. The team was coached by PSC Professors Ed Schwarz, David Naze, and Elighie Wilson.
“The key to this tournament was focusing on taking it only ten minutes at a time,” said team member Fox.

Coach Naze added, “This is a great way to begin the season. We have a lot of new team members this year, so it’s wonderful to see them prepare themselves for a successful start to the new year.”
