Graduating Veterans Honored With Special Ceremony at PSC

Prairie State College (PSC) recently honored its graduating veterans during a special stole ceremony on campus. PSC president, Dr. Terri L. Winfree (seventh from left), and Dr. Gregory Thomas (far right), PSC vice president of student affairs and dean of students, welcomed the students and speakers Rev. William Fleshman (left) of Pastor Abundant Living Church in Dolton, Ill., a U.S. Army veteran who delivered the Invocation and Benediction; PSC Associate Professor Andrew Schott (second from left), who gave the keynote address; and Paul Pipik (eleventh from left), coordinator of the PSC Student Veterans Center, who introduced Schott during the event. The veterans who were honored were (from third from left) Julie A. Hughes, Tracey Skinner, Kurt E. Stremming, Lora A. Gordon, Yvonne Russell; Ruben Rosales, Andrea Ellison-Parish, and Tameka J. Bobb. More than 400 students will graduate from PSC with associate degrees and certificates during the fifty-fifth annual commencement on Saturday, May 17.
