Prairie State College (PSC) is hosting “Metaphorical,” from Feb. 10 through March 6, in the Christopher Art Gallery, located on the PSC main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

The exhibit features paintings, photographs, prints, and sculpture by artists Renee McGinnis, Ana Fernandez, Sophia Nahli Allison, Robert Magrisso, and Joanna Pinsky.

An opening reception will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, in the gallery.

“The artists whose works are exhibited use metaphor in their works to convey emotions, meaning, and idea,” said exhibit curator and gallery director Beth Shadur.

“While their subject matter is recognizable in terms of representing something ‘realistic,’ these artists move beyond the obvious into the realm of the symbolic,” she added.

The Christopher Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Visits also can be made by appointment. For more information about the exhibit or to make an appointment for a visit, call (708) 709-3636.
