Bloom Trail Students Serve the Community

More than 250 Bloom Trail High School students spread across Chicago Heights to donate time to the community and help fellow residents and businesses. The day was part of the school's 'Be the Good,' initiative.

Bloom Trail High School students hit the streets in the Chicago Heights community on Friday, April 12, to help serve the community, or 'Be the Good,' as part of the school's community service component. During the day, more than 250 Bloom Trail sophomores and senior key club members worked on service projects at 15 locations throughout the city.

All of the service hours the students provided were part of Bloom Trail's requirement that students complete service hours as part of their senior portfolio. Before the start of the day, students were asked to fill out their top three choices to perform service activities.

At each location students performed various service projects, ranging from cleaning cages, walking dogs and helping maintain the facilities at the Calumet Area Humane Society to cooking and cleaning at the Ronald McDonald House for families currently staying at the house, and many other projects.
