EIU Inks Former Bloom Hoops Star

Donald Moore, a graduate of Bloom High School, signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Eastern Illinois University next year. Moore will have three years of eligibility left.

A former Bloom High School basketball star is taking his game to the Division 1 level, after signing a national letter of intent with the Eastern Illinois University Panthers. Guard Donald Moore will transfer after playing one season at Blinn Junior College in in Texas, where he averaged 10.3 points per game, according to an EIU news release.

Moore, who will have three years of eligibility remaining in his college career, was a three-time All-Area selection during his time at Bloom and was named All-State his senior year. He averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals per game his senior year and was named MVP of the McDipper Classic, as well.

“Donald gives us added quickness and scoring ability at the guard position,” said Panthers Coach Jay Spoonhour in the release. “He's about as fast as anyone going from end to end. His ability to create shots is something that will be a big benefit to us.”

Moore is the fourth player to sign with the Panthers this spring.
