Chicago (March 25, 2011) Avis Clendenen, D. Min., Ph.D. will speak about the role of lament as a form of prayer at the next Theology South lecture on Thurs., April 7 at Saint Xavier University's Chicago campus, 3700 W. 103rd St.

The event, which costs $6, begins at 9:30 a.m. in the Butler Reception Room, located in the Warde Academic Center. Coffee will be served at 9 a.m.

Clendenen will present a lecture titled, "Living Our Laments," a personal memoir used to explore the shattering experience of unexpected and undeserved suffering and the role of Biblical lament as a healing medium.

Clendenen is a scholar in spirituality and a religious studies professor at SXU. She is the author of “Experiencing Hildegard: Jungian Perspectives” and the Sister Irene Dugan Scholar in Spirituality.
