Girls Golf: Brick, Veazey Power Marian to Class AA Regional Title

Marian Catholic senor Sylvia Brick edged junior Bree Veazey in a playoff to claim medalist honors in the Class AA Homewood-Flossmoor Regional at Coyote Run. Together, the two led the Spartans to the team title.

When, Brick is on, look out. And she was on during play in the Class AA Homewood-Flossmoor Regional on Wednesday at Coyote Run.

Brick shot a 4-over-par 75 and defeated teammate Bree Veazey in a playoff to claim medalist honors. Together, the two girls powered Marian Catholic's runaway victory in the regional title chase.

Marian Catholic finished with a team total of 323. Homewood-Flossmoor placed second with 349, followed by Lincoln-Way East 354. All three teams advance to the Marist Sectional on Oct. 10 at Old Oak Country Club in Homer Glen.

For Marian Catholic, Nina Nicpon shot 82, Samatha Barlage 91, Alexandria Palmer 95 and Abby Brunner 97. H-F picked up scores of 81 from Sarah Armstrong, 85 from Katelyn Hoag, 89 from Elizabeth Hassett, 94 from Paige Minett, 95 from Kendall Paris and 106 from Taylor King.

Lincoln-Way East was paced by freshman Kelly Sterling's 81. The Griffins' Katie Reno shot 84, Hannah Petraitis 91, Brianne Kellner 98, Alexis Huss 110 and Anna Palermini 114.
