Heights Boy Memorialized by Local Academy

Teach Me How Academy in Chicago Heights is commemorating the life of its former student in a special way.

When 7-year-old Jackson Hill got out of school at Washington-McKinley, he would head over to Teach Me How Academy for afterschool care.

Owner Cheryl Anderson says he was an exceptionally bright young man who read often. He also loved wrestling—so much so, that he even convinced a reluctant Anderson to start a school team.

Tragically, Jackson’s life was cut short when he was hit and killed by a car last month at the intersection of 16th Place and Chicago Road while he was on his way to school.

Anderson wants to help keep Jackson’s memory alive, and she's doing it by renaming Teach Me How Academy’s tumbling, gymnastics, ballet and (most importantly) wrestling team after Jackson.

Teach Me How Academy also created 7 new scholarships designed for seven-year-old boys, all in Jackson's name.

Beyond the classroom, Anderson helped establish a Jackson Hill memorial fund. Anyone can donate to it through this website.
