PSC's Student-Run Newspaper Comes to Chicago Heights Patch

"The Student Review" is taking its first steps into the digital world.

After more than 40 years of print publication, Prairie State College’s (PSC) student-run newspaper will be entering the digital world—and they’re doing it here on Patch.

James McCoyne, editor-in-chief of The Student Review, spearheaded the decision to develop a web presence for the school's paper.

“It's important as a publication to adapt to modern times,” McCoyne said. “News is increasingly going digital, and The Student Review strives to prepare its writers to succeed in journalism as it exists today.”

So far, The Student Review has already published several articles ranging from suicide prevention to the college’s new chief of police. McCoyne hopes the larger community that PSC students are a part of will take a stake in their work.

“Many of our writers were raised in the Homewood-Flossmoor and Chicago Heights areas, giving us a personal investment in the area where we are attending classes,” McCoyne said. “We have a unique and important voice in the community, and now with this partnership with Patch we can finally be heard by it.”
