Rich SD 227 Fires Former Girls Coach Who Wrote 'Offensive' Book

The Rich 227 Board of Education fired tenured teacher and guidance counselor Bryan Craig in a 6-0 vote Tuesday evening.

Rich Township School District 227 fired counselor and former varsity girls basketball coach Bryan Craig just weeks after his book, "It's Her Fault" sparked concern over portions encouraging promiscuity and oral sex.

In a press release from the district, Board President Betty Owens mentioned the book, saying it contained "offensive content regarding women and sex." Owens also shared her reasons for supporting Craig's firing:

Mr. Craig’s conduct in this matter fell far short of our expectations and evoked outrage for me, members of this Board and many others in our District who have come to expect the highest level of professionalism and sound judgment from the people they entrust with their children each day.

Craig had been on paid administrative leave since the end of August while the school district investigated. The press release cited Craig's book as the key factor in the investigation.
