Scott Turow to Speak at GSU on Friday

The Chicago author and attorney, who's receiving an honorary degree from GSU, will also sign books after Friday's 3 p.m. lecture.

Author and attorney Scott Turow will visit Governors State University this Friday to deliver a special guest lecture entitled "How I Got to be Two Things."

The 3 p.m. lecture is free and open to the public and there will be a book signing after the lecture. Turow will appear in GSU's Sherman Music Hall.

Turow is the celebrated author of nine best-selling works of fiction, including his first novel, "Presumed Innocent," its sequel "Innocent" and his newest novel, "Identical."

His works of non-fiction include "One L," about his experience as a law student and “Ultimate Punishment,” a reflection on the death penalty.

Turow is also a practicing attorney. After graduating from Harvard Law School, he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Chicago and served as lead counsel in a number of prosecutions related to corruption in the legal profession. He is now a partner in the Chicago office of the international firm, Dentons, since 1986. There he concentrates on white-collar criminal defense and he devotes a significant amount of time to pro bono work.

Turow also will be an honorary degree recipient at Governors State University’s commencement ceremonies May 17.
