St. Paul's Lutheran School Introduces New Programs

Registration at the parochial school continues through Aug. 22.

held an open house last week to showcase their programs at 330 Highland Drive West.

The school, which educates youngsters from preschool through eighth grade, starts Aug. 22 with some new programs planned for the coming school year, said St Paul's Principal Dan Green.

"We will be having more after-school programs, we will have an after-school art program and after-school drama," said Green. "We have Spanish this year and are exploring getting violin lessons here."

The school's Girl Scout chapter is making a comeback as well, he said. "There are all kinds of neat things in the works," Green said.

While a few parents toured the building last week, new schoolbooks sat packed in boxes, with some welcome back signs posted to await the students' arrival in a few weeks.

Green pointed out the that the school's student ratio is 14 to 1, allowing smaller class sizes.

"Our fifth grade basketball team was second in the league as well as in tournament," he said. "Our students do very well at the Luther East Academic Bowl." Parents can also make use of a before school program starting at 6 a.m., and aftercare until 6:30 p.m., he said.
