Boys Basketball: Bloom Guts Out Win Over Rich Central, Stays Undefeated

Bloom 52, Rich Central 39: Bloom's defense held Rich Central to only two points in the last six minutes and got its seventh victory of the season.

The Skinny: didn’t play its best game of the season, but the Blazing Trojans did just enough to claim a 52-39 win over conference rival Rich Central. never trailed, leading by 10 at halftime, but Rich Central rallied to cut it to three points early in the fourth quarter. But Lejavius Johnson spurred a quick 6-0 run to put Bloom back up by nine and Bloom’s defense help Rich Central to two points over the final six minutes of play.

Patch’s MVP: Bloom’s Lejavius Johnson. Johnson was in foul trouble for most of the first half, but he came back after the intermission to score eight second-half points. He went 4-for-5 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to help seal the win.

Key Stats: Rich Central committed 15 turnovers in the game and went only 9-for-19 from the free-throw line. Bloom hit four 3-pointers in the first half against Rich Central’s 1-3-1 zone defense.
