Gimme 5: Marian Catholic's Nunn Focused on a Winning Season

Spartans junior pitcher Robert Nunn is looking to help the team make major strides.

Marian Catholic senior pitcher Robert Nunn has one thing on his mind heading into this baseball season.

Winning.

"I just want to win," Nunn says. "I just want to win any way we can."

Nunn will be looking to improve upon his 2010 season, when he went 3-5 with a 2.50 ERA. He pitched 49 innings and had 37 strikeouts.

Nunn says he used to play basketball, too, but he gave it up to focus on baseball for one simple reason.

"Because I'm good at it," he says.

Nunn started playing baseball as a little kid when his dad signed him up, and he has stuck with it ever since. These days he bases his pitching motion on that of Phillies star Roy Halladay.

When he's not on the baseball diamond, Nunn listens to music, plays video games and hangs out with friends.

He and the rest of his Spartans' teammates will travel to Scottsdale, Ariz., to face Sierra Linda for their season opener on March 19.
