Gimme 5: Marian Catholic's Sadler Rates Second to None

Western Kentucky recruit Erashawna Sadler holds down second base position for Spartans and excels on and off the field.

Erashawna Sadler has been a great addition to the Marian Catholic softball program. The senior captain plays second base and bats cleanup for the Spartans.

She transferred from St. Louis before her junior season and has not only improved the Spartan team but she also has improved her own skills.

“They are a lot more serious and intense here than in St. Louis,” Sadler said.  “The competition is also a lot better.”

Growing up, Sadler excelled at basketball and volleyball in addition to softball. She has been playing softball since she was 5 and she always has enjoyed it more than any other sport.

“It is a good time to relax and take all of the stress off,” Sadler said.  “Plus, it also helped me get into college.”

Sadler has signed to play softball next season at Western Kentucky University. After getting many offers, she settled on Western Kentucky for two main reasons.

“It was close to home, which is important for family life, and though they don’t offer pharmacy, they do have a good pre-pharmacy program that will get you into other schools,” she said.

Sadler carries a 3.2 grade-point average and lists math and science as her two favorite subjects. She is an ideal leader for the Spartans, full of lots of energy and always having a smile on her face.

She thinks her teammates would describe her as the, “short sarcastic person who says random things.”

Sadler is doing and saying a lot both on and off the field and will look to continue to do those things the rest of this season and on the collegiate level.
