Gimme 5: Rich Central Wants to Throw One Last House-Warming Party

Missouri recruit Tyler House hopes to take the Olympians deep into the state baseball playoffs.

Last week, Rich Central baseball won its first conference baseball title in 22 years.

One of the main components of the Olympians' title team is starting pitcher Tyler House. He already has signed to play college ball at Missouri.

"Of all the schools that offered, that was the best choice for me academically and athletically," House said.

He began playing baseball when he was 4 years old. He stuck with it through the years because he found he was good and the game came to him in easy fashion.

He is a left-hander with a fastball that has been clocked as high as 88 mph. He throws two varities, a two-seamer and a four-seamer. He also throws a circle change and a slider.

After transferring from Mount Carmel, House has made a home at Rich Central. He has been solid on the mound for the Olympians. He notices a big difference between Catholic League and South Suburban play, though.

"In the Catholic League, they want to play at a higher level," he said. "Here, they just play for fun."

If House doesn't make it to the big leagues, he wants to do something in technology. He recently was named the Olympians' MVP.

He considers the season a success because Rich Central won the Southland Athletic Conference crown, but at the same time he wants to take his team all the way to the state title.
