Gimme 5: Rich Central's Spivey Cruising Along With Perfect Record

From going undefeated on the mound to driving an old car, the Olympians' senior pitcher is showing his teammates how to enjoy the moment.

Rich Central's Garrett Spivey has been one of the maintstays on the Olympians' baseball team that won its first regional title in recent memory on Saturday. He will be continuing his career in the fall at Kentucky State University.

He chose Kentucky State over some other schools because he liked the campus. Also, the Kentucky State coaches offered him a better scholarship and the opportunity to play during his freshman year.

Spivey plans to major in biology with a focus on pre-dentistry. He plans to become a dentist. But, for now, he's living Rich Central baseball.

Spivey has compiled a 6-0 record. He credits his progress this season to hard work in the offseason and lessons he received from a new pitching coach.

He enjoys listening to Michael Jackson because he finds him motivating but, at the same time, kind of held back. His favorite food is pad thai noodles.

His most memorable high school baseball moment up to this point came when Rich Central managed to tie state power St. Rita.

"We played hard and showed everybody else what we are truly made of," Spivey said.

He said teammates would describe him as a leader and somebody that they will listen to and come to for advice. A random fact about Spivey is that he likes to drive his 1999 Buick Park Avenue around town.
