Girls Basketball: Bloom Shows Its Class on Senior Night

Bloom 48, Crete-Monee 30. Before the game, the seniors were honored, and it was a pair of seniors who led the way as the team played in its last Southland Athletic Conference contest of the season.

The Hot Read: Bloom started all seniors in honor of the senior class, and Crete-Monee hung around in the first quarter. Leading 13-7 at the start of the second quarter, sophomore forward Bria Gaines and junior guards Breanna Perry and Tatiana Perry came in for Bloom, and the Blazing Trojans took off. Bloom led 24-12 at halftime. Bloom’s lead was never in danger in the second half, and senior guards Tysheka Craft and Angenay Williams led the way as each scored nine total points. Bloom coach Marc Lopez was able to get some of the seniors more playing time than usual.

Patch’s MVP: Craft (9 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals) was Ms. Everything for the Blazing Trojans. She ran the offense, scored points, was a disruptive force on defense and crashed the boards.

Key Stats: Bloom dominated the glass as the Blazing Trojans gave up only three offensive rebounds. Two players had eight rebounds (Craft and senior forward Sade Gibson). Also, Bloom played great defense and forced 21 Crete-Monee turnovers (15 of them on Bloom steals).
