On Her Game: Bloom Township's Amber Fryer

Senior outside hitter Amber Fryer's improvement hasn't gone unnoticed. She is close to landing a college volleyball scholarship offer.

Bloom Township girls volleyball player Amber Fryer has come a long way since picking up the sport her freshman year. The senior outside hitter has improved each year. Now she is close to landing a college scholarship.

Fryer has had interest from numerous schools and credits both her play on the Blazing Trojan team as well as with the Diamond Elite club volleyball team she plays on for help in opening the recruiting doors.

Last season, Fryer led the area in kills with 344 in 32 matches. She also tallied 20 blocks for points, 123 digs and 19 aces. And she did it all while taking on a new role as the Blazing Trojans' top outside hitter.

Fryer, never one to be content with her play, showed her willingness and desire to improve this summer, working harder than she ever had before. She now serves as a captain at Bloom.

And she will lead a team that has won five straight Southland Athletic Conference titles.

“It is a lot of pressure leading the team,” Fryer said. “But I feel like I am the one who can keep everyone together and have a successful year.”
