Sports Photo Gallery: Getting a Jump on the Competition

Gore's school-record setting performance in the high jump helps Bloom Township capture the SAC boys track and field championship.

Dvonte Gore set a school record. Shijuan Rodgers edged Jourdan Redmond in the long jump. And Bloom Township won the Southwest Athletic Conference boys track and field meet.

Bloom had individual winners in the 200, 400, 800 and 1600-meter races. The Blazing Trojans also picked up wins in the pole vault, high jump and long jump events.

Gore set a school record with his leap of 6-4 in the high jump. Rodgers tipped Redmond in the long jump with a mark of 20-9 1/2.

"This was another complete team effort," Bloom coach Andrew Schmitt said. "I am very proud of these young men, who are doing it the right way by supporting one another and stepping up individually for the good of the team." 

Rich Central scored 47.50 points and picked up standout performances from Redmond and Shawn Mitchell.

"Jourdon Redmond finished second in both the long jump and the 110 high hurdles," Rich Central coach Dave Stanko said. "Our 4x100 relay team improved its time by three-tenths of a second, inching us closer to that mark for qualifying for the state meet. Also, Mitchell was third in the high jump, going out at 6 feet."
