Weekend Planner: Ugly Dogs Compete at Ashland Park Summer Fest

Three Chicago Heights officials came together to kick-off the summer with food, fun and a bunch of ugly dogs.

  • This is event will include an ugliest dog contest, basketball camp, a talent show for kids, face painting food and more. 

Event sponsored by Seventh Ward Ald. Sylvia Torres and Seventh Ward Park Commissioner Ken Ochoa in collaboration with Norma Caratachea, youth director for Bloom Township.

  • Dates: June 22-27
  • Time: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
  • All office furniture must go. Six-foot walnut desks with or without returns for $20 - $25.

  • Tickets are $8 and survival packs are $1. Survival Packs include rice, toilet paper, playing cards, toast, and other oddities to enhance your show.

  • Time: 8 a.m. - 1 p.m.
  • An open air farmers market featuring growers, artisans, crafters, farmers, bakers, distributors, re-purposed goods, fundraising events and lemon shake-ups and hot dogs.  Vendor fee is $10 for a 10x10 space.
