We Are Bloom Township: Heights School District Launches Aggressive Video Series

What is Bloom Township? Bloom Township High School District 206 in Chicago Heights seeks to answer that question with the help of its students, teachers and alumni.

In the weeks leading up to the end of the school year, the District gathered several students from both of its high schools for a video project allowing them to communicate a simple yet powerful message: We are Bloom Township.

The end result is a four-and-a-half-minute video featuring several students of different grade levels discussing and displaying their skills in music, academics, sports, theatre and more. The project aims to reveal the heart and soul of the school district, according to Bloom 206 Supt. Lenell Navarre.

“The students at Bloom and Bloom Trail High Schools are resilient,” Navarre said. “It is a privilege and honor to be the superintendent of such a great District with wonderful students and staff.”

Bloom High School sophomore Ruth Adekale opens the video talking about her love of music as her rendition of Adele’s “Someone Like You” echoes in the background. By the end of the video, viewers have been introduced to a slew of students with different dreams and goals, all showing pride in their school. Bloom alum and 2013 Miss Windy City Ariel Fuller closes the video with a look back at her time at Bloom.

The background music for the first video is provided by Bloom student Ruth Adekale and Bloom Trail students, Andy, Tyler and Jordan Foster.

The video kicks off a series of three short films, with the next installment focusing on the teaching staff of District 206.
