3rd Annual Beacon Hill Family Reunion, Plus Other Events This Week

For residents who grew up in the Beacon Hill area of Chicago Heights, the neighborhood has become a part of their life’s history. For the past two years, current and former residents have gathered for an annual reunion for families and friends and this year will be no different.

On Aug. 9, the party kicks off at 7 p.m. with a slate full of family fun and food. The three-day event will include: two (2) $500 College Scholarships being awarded to deserving high school seniors currently residing in Beacon, with tickets for the Meet and Greet/Scholarship Banquet set at a cost of $35.00 each. Tickets can be purchased online or at Dress to Impress in Matteson, IL.

Saturday, August 10 is Family Fun Day at Dominic J. Sesto Park, which is free to attend and will include a day of fun and entertainment.

What Else is Going On?

• On Saturday, Aug. 10, First Christian Church will host a huge book sale, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is offering thousands of books that are sorted and categorized, including rare and vintage books, as well. Other items for sale include audio books, records, cassettes, CDs, puzzles, greeting cards and DVDs. All items are $1 or less.

• The Steger-South Chicago Heights library is hosting Baby Bookworms on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The event is open to children 18-months and their family are welcome to attend, although registration is required. For more information, or to register, call the library at 708-755-5040.
