Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is the merger of two previous parishes: Immanuel Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran; the parishes were merged in 1967 and the present building was built in 1974. The church combined with South Suburban Pads Shelter to provide shelter for individuals and families to have a hot meal and sleep overnight. It is a member of the Lutheran World Federation, which claims 69 million Lutheran Christians around the world
